About This Role

The Area Manager II conducts activities that support the growth of Hunter’s business in the assigned territory (UAE, Qatar, Pakistan). The role focuses on training, educating contractors, distributors, designers and government agencies, and provides technical support to distributors and contractors. It also involves developing and supporting new product launches.

Essential Functions

  • Plans and acts strategically to maximize Hunter’s exposure, sales, and success, facilitating demand for Hunter products at a variety of levels to achieve distribution goals.
  • Acts as local intermediary, informing management of events, territory occurrences, and other pertinent information.
  • Supports customers in achieving their goals by keeping them up to date on product purchases and providing product training as needed.
  • Has individual budget available to achieve business goals, managing expenditures within budget and seeking approval for items or events outside the allocated budget.
  • Executes customer training programs, trade shows, and promotional events in the assigned territory.
  • Directs field service and support as required by phone, e‑mail, or onsite customer visits in the assigned territory.
  • Assists in collecting data for forecasts and market data reports such as product lines, prices, distribution, and competitor policies.
  • Alerts management of potential customer credit problems and recommends credit line adjustments as needed.
  • Supports recommendations on product distribution changes as necessary.
  • Develops relationships with irrigation consultants, landscape architects, municipalities and local government agencies and visits to explain Hunter products and features for specification on projects.
  • Travels as needed to accomplish goals.

Education/Training Required And Preferred

  • Requires four years of college or technical training in landscape architecture, irrigation design, or a closely related field, or equivalent education and experience.

Experience Required And Preferred

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a professional sales or technical support position with a minimum of 3 years within the irrigation or lighting industry.

What You Bring

  • Knowledge of commercial channels, pricing, marketing, and distribution models within the industry. Effective specification and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to attain goals.
  • Technical knowledge of company and competitor products. Ability to perform field service, troubleshoot irrigation systems, and recommend solutions.
  • Knowledge of finance and budgeting processes. Ability to prepare budgets and manage expenses within budget.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English or regional languages. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships and provide high level of customer service and support.
  • Ability to travel extensively, live in a strategic location within the territory, and work flexible hours.
  • Basic computer skills with ability to use Windows programs and perform word processing, spreadsheet, and database management on a personal computer.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record sufficient to meet requirements to be insured by company. Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport.
  • Fluency in languages commonly spoken within the region. Knowledge of regional business and cultural practices.
  • Irrigation Association (IA) Level II certification with additional Level III certifications is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
