Optimus Search is collaborating with a leading company based in Jena , renowned in the semiconductor sector for their expertise in micromechanical and optoelectronic components . This company works closely with clients on plasma processes, utilizing laser-driven analytical techniques to deliver highly accurate measurements. Employing around 550 professionals worldwide, with a turnover of approximately 130 million EUR, the organisation operates from four locations in Germany. They are currently searching for a Sales engineer metrology (m/f/d) to add to their department.
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide both technical and commercial support to new and existing clients in the semiconductor industry , focusing on wafer and chip manufacturers (frontend).
- Promote and sell solutions for optical inspection , defect detection , and quality assurance across the full semiconductor production chain (frontend).
- Advise customers on high-precision ultra-trace analysis systems for detecting contamination on wafers , masks , and process chemicals .
- Collaborate closely with R&D , application labs , and product management to design and implement customized customer solutions .
- Conduct feasibility studies , product demonstrations , and on-site or application center evaluations .
- Manage proposals , contract negotiations , and project calculations , balancing technical and economic considerations .
- Analyze market trends and competitors to identify new opportunities in metrology and analytics .
- Represent the company at trade fairs , conferences , and technical workshops , showcasing expertise and solutions .
Your Profile:
- Degree in physics , engineering , microsystems technology , chemistry , materials science , or a comparable technical discipline .
- 3–4+ years of professional experience in sales or technical support for optical inspection , defect detection , or ultra-trace analysis in semiconductor manufacturing .
- Knowledge of mass spectrometry , including inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) .
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and process control methods in the frontend of wafer and chip production .
- In-depth knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes .
- Established technical network in the European or global semiconductor industry is an advantage.
- Skilled in engaging with technical decision-makers and buyers at all levels.
- Willingness to travel across Europe and to the Jena production site .
- Fluent in German and English with excellent communication skills .
- Strong customer focus , negotiation abilities , and proven closing skills .
- Initiative , responsibility , entrepreneurial thinking , and analytical problem-solving skills .
