Overview
UNSW Sydney invites applications for four senior academic positions (Level D or E) within the Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship (ARCCS). The ARCCS aims to advance health and prosperity for all cancer survivors through research and collaboration with survivors, researchers, clinicians and the community. The Centre is led by Professor Bogda Koczwara AM and was established through a $40 million, 10-year partnership between UNSW Sydney and Cancer Council NSW.

Employment Type: Full Time
Duration: Up until 30 June 2029
Remuneration: Academic Level D or Level E ($185Kβ$237K) based on experience + 17% Super + Annual Leave Loading
Role
The Research Leads will report to Professor Koczwara and help shape the Centreβs research strategy across four major themes:
- Person-Centred Care in Cancer Survivorship β advancing holistic, equitable and empowering models of care that place survivors at the heart of the health system.
- Behaviour and Health β exploring behavioural, psychological and social factors that help cancer survivors maintain and improve their wellbeing after diagnosis.
- Survivorship Epidemiology β investigating long-term health outcomes, quality of life, and disparities in survivorship through large-scale and data-driven research.
- Precision Survivorship β pioneering tailored approaches to survivorship care informed by molecular, genetic, behavioural and environmental factors.
These roles offer an exceptional opportunity for accomplished academic leaders to advance world-leading survivorship research, build national and international partnerships, secure competitive funding, and mentor the next generation of researchers.
Qualifications and Skills
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Extensive leadership experience in the relevant professional field.
- Commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Proven ability to lead research projects and research teams.
- Substantial experience supervising honours and postgraduate research projects.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work across disciplines, faculties, institutions, industry and professional accreditation bodies.
- Demonstrated capacity to mentor other academics and foster equal opportunity and equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Experience in developing relationships with industry and the community, including attracting significant industry funding.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSWβs aims, objectives and values, policies and guidelines, and the ability to lead safety management initiatives.
