The role

  • Execution of debt recovery processes under the German Code of Civil Procedure (ZPO), including payment orders, enforcement orders and enforcement actions.
  • Independent management of an assigned portfolio of debt recovery cases.
  • Develop and implement tailored debt recovery strategies for each customer case to achieve optimal outcomes for both the company and the customer.
  • Supervision and coordination of external legal service providers (law firms, bailiffs, insolvency practitioners).
  • Maintenance of accurate, compliant documentation in internal systems.
  • Contribution to process improvements and knowledge sharing within the Collections & Litigation function.
  • Draft and file applications for payment orders, enforcement orders and related documents under German law.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of debt recovery cases through pre-litigation, litigation and enforcement stages.
  • Prepare and monitor court applications for enforcement measures (garnishment, attachment, asset disclosure etc.).
  • Handle inbound and outbound correspondence with courts, customers, lawyers and enforcement officers in German.
  • Negotiate repayment plans, settlements and payment agreements directly with customers in writing and by phone.
  • Liaise with and oversee external law firms, ensuring quality, timeliness and cost-effectiveness of outsourced cases.
  • Conduct written and telephone correspondence with customers, courts, lawyers and bailiffs in German.
  • Support in business and personal insolvency matters (monitoring insolvency proceedings, filing claims).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in internal systems (Eden etc) in English.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and further development of document templates, internal processes and workflows.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory guidelines and company policies and a high standard of service quality and compliance in all interactions and processes.
  • Uphold the company’s reputation and values in all interactions.
  • Timely and accurate handling of the assigned judicial case portfolio.
  • Recovery rates and cost efficiency achieved in collaboration with external law firms.
  • Compliance and quality of documentation and system records.
  • Effective cooperation with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Contributions to process improvement initiatives and best practice sharing.

Requirements

  • Sound knowledge of German civil procedure and judicial dunning/enforcement processes.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills; Meticulous, structured and deadline-oriented approach with a strong eye for detail.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills when interacting with debtors in German; confident English for internal documentation and meetings.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and case management.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Confidence in liaising with external lawyers and service providers.
  • Problem-solving mindset and readiness to suggest process improvements.
  • Empathy and professionalism in handling sensitive cases.
  • Completed training as Rechtsanwaltsfachangestellte/r, Rechtsanwalts- und Notarfachangestellte/r, Wirtschaftsjurist/in or equivalent legal qualification.
  • 3-5 years’ practical experience in debt recovery, judicial dunning, litigation support or comparable legal support roles.
  • Experience in business and personal insolvency matters desirable.
  • Familiarity with electronic court communication is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets or MS Office and openness to new processes and systems as well as willingness to contribute to continuous improvement.
