The Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology is a research institute of the Max Planck Society. It was founded in 1992 in the State of Bremen and employs around 200 staff members. In close collaboration with numerous university and non-university research institutions, we explore the diversity and function of microorganisms in the ocean and their interactions with their environment. Scientists from all over the world, engineers, technicians and administrative staff together make an important contribution to global marine and environmental research.
Position
Department of Symbiosis is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate (f/m/d) to investigate marine transmissible cancers.
Responsibilities
- Curate, analyse and interpret multi-omics data sets (i.e., genomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics, and environmental data integration).
- Apply state-of-the-art computational approaches to cancer evolution, microbiome and marine bivalves.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to manuscript preparation.
Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant subject with a solid computational background.
- Experience in curating, analysing and interpreting multi-omics data sets.
- Experience in microbial ecology, cancer genomics, or marine biology is an asset but not a prerequisite.
- Ability to manage complex datasets and contribute to manuscript preparation.
- Applicants should be fluent in English and have excellent scientific writing skills; able to work in an international and interdisciplinary team.
What we offer
The position is offered for two years with a possible extension depending on available funding. The salary is according to the German system for public employees up to E14 TVΓΆD Bund. You will be part of a motivating and supportive research group.
