About the Role
Join Qualcomm’s Automotive Application Engineering Group and be at the forefront of next‑generation In‑Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) and digital cockpit technologies. As a Senior Video Domain Lead Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in enabling cutting‑edge multimedia experiences in vehicles by collaborating with global automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers—from concept to commercialization.
You’ll lead the design, development, and debugging of embedded multimedia systems, with a focus on display, graphics, and video technologies across platforms like Linux, Android, QNX, and Green Hills Integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the integration and optimization of video and display subsystems on Qualcomm SoCs for automotive IVI platforms.
- Collaborate with customers to customize and debug multimedia features including display bring‑up, video decoding, and graphics rendering.
- Analyze and resolve complex system‑level issues such as low FPS, black screen, or image corruption.
- Work across software stacks including drivers, middleware, and applications in POSIX‑based environments.
- Interface with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration of display, camera, and GPU components.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in embedded software development and debugging.
- Strong C/C++ programming skills.
- Hands‑on experience with Linux, Android, or RTOS (QNX, GHS).
- Solid understanding of multimedia domains: Audio, Display, Graphics, Camera.
- Excellent debugging and issue triage skills.
- Experience in customer‑facing roles and collaborative environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep expertise in video and display technologies.
- Display interfaces (DP, HDMI, DSI), HDCP, DRM, GPU buffer management.
- OpenGL ES, Vulkan, OpenCL, GStreamer, libdrm/KMS.
- Android SurfaceFlinger, MediaCodec, QNX Screen.
- Display bring‑up, RVC, HMI, and graphics application optimization.
- Familiarity with camera/display sensor specs (timing, pixel clock, framerates).
- Experience with video/audio codecs (HEVC, H.264, MP3, AAC).
- Exposure to hypervisors, virtualization, and Linux containers.
- Understanding of multimedia data flows and performance profiling.
- Knowledge of Qt/QML, SHM, texture compression, and physical audio interfaces (I2S, TDM).
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
