Job DescriptionThe Eggplant breeding department of Rijk Zwaan Ibérica develops tomato varieties for many different market segments worldwide. As a Breeder Eggplant , based in Spain, you will be part of our Eggplant breeding team developing varieties for the open field market segment. Your responsibilities include:
- Working on new varieties, plant concepts, and disease resistances in close contact with the market and sales team.
- Conducting breeding tasks such as phenotyping, evaluation, and administration of trials on-site and abroad.
- Participating in international travel to judge variety trials.
- Setting up variety trials with stakeholders like customers or research institutes.
- Engaging in strategic discussions about the breeding program.
You are a team player who is proactive, creative, flexible, and solution-oriented. You take initiative, pay attention to detail, and work in a structured manner. Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills are essential. Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Spanish is also necessary. Your CV should demonstrate:
- A BSc or MSc in horticulture, agriculture, applied biology, or plant breeding.
- At least 2 years of experience.
- Good command of English and Spanish.
