Overview

About LearnWise AI

We’re an AI-first scale up helping universities and colleges support students and faculty with smart, knowledge-driven tools from AI tutoring to feedback and support. Small team, high ownership, real user impact.

Why this role exists

We need a senior who can take product ideas from Figma to fast, accessible, production apps on Vercel - and lead the craft on performance, and accessibility.

Responsibilities

  • Ship high-quality frontend apps in Next.js, React and TypeScript (App Router & Page Router, SSR / SSG / ISR, middleware, edge patterns).
  • Translate Figma designs into responsive, accessible UI; iterate quickly with design & product.
  • Champion accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA across components and flows.
  • Own performance: optimize data loading / streaming, reduce bundle size, profile the JS event loop and async flows.
  • Keep dependencies lean and healthy; document decisions; raise the bar through reviews.
  • Deploy, preview, and monitor apps on Vercel (analytics, error tracking, observability).

Qualifications

  • 8+ years building production frontends.
  • Deep Next.js knowledge (App vs Page routes) and strong React + modern TypeScript / JavaScript fundamentals.
  • Mastery of the browser runtime: event loop, promises, concurrency, streaming.
  • Proven track record shipping accessible UI to WCAG 2.2 AA.
  • Professional fluency in English (written & spoken).
  • Bias to action, comfort with ambiguity, and love for startup pace.

Nice to have

  • Built streaming UIs, chat experiences, or AI-powered apps (real-time, RAG, agents).
  • Experience with design systems, motion / interaction details, and component libraries.
  • Tooling for performance & observability (Web Vitals, Lighthouse, bundle analysis).

How we work

  • Default to open: write things down, share context early.
  • Small team, big ownership: you’ll own projects end-to-end.
  • Measure
  • guess: we ship, we instrument, we learn.
  • Quality and speed: we don’t choose—we engineer for both.

Location

  • Remote is OK; EU is a must-have.
  • Prefer Barcelona, Spain or Amsterdam, Netherlands if you want hybrid / office.

Compensation

  • Salary: competitive (location-adjusted).
  • Flexible time off, home-office budget, and learning stipend.

If you are passionate about creating intuitive, engaging user interfaces, interested in working for a startup, and excited about the opportunity to work on innovative AI projects that make an impact for students just like you, we would love to hear from you!
