Key Responsibilities

  • Verify E/M leveling and surgical coding entered by surgeons; add modifiers as needed.
  • Perform full abstraction, denial, and edit resolution (approximately 25% of day-to-day work).
  • Code charts for Oncology and Denials/Edits including:
    • Colorectal Surgery
    • Thoracic
    • Iron Infusions
    • Radiation Pharmaceuticals
    • Medical Oncology
    • Oncology Surgery
    • Oncology Dermatology Surgeries
    • Breast, Thoracic, and Gynecology Oncology Surgeries
    • Radiation Oncology and Radiation Oncology Therapies
  • Review documentation for 100+ providers across 13+ clinics.
  • Work in systems including PMD, Athena IDX, and IONMed G2.
  • Maintain a daily productivity log.
  • Collaborate with the coding team and leadership to improve processes and consistency.
  • Assist with resolving denials and edits currently pending in the work queue (approx. 300+).

Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC or equivalent AHIMA credential).
  • Oncology coding experience preferred.
  • Experience with PMD, Athena IDX, or IONMed G2 systems a plus.
  • Must live in Minnesota or Wisconsin (required for equipment pickup and possible onsite orientation).
  • Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and willingness to learn β€œthe MN Oncology way.”
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Additional Details

  • Number of Openings: 1
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, start between 7:30–8:00 AM (strict 8-hour workday).
  • Onsite/Remote: Remote (onsite only for orientation/equipment pickup).
  • Interview Process: Virtual 1 round
  • Start Date: Approximately 2 weeks after offer.
  • Training: Orientation either onsite for 1 day or remote; additional training via Teams.
  • Equipment: Provided by Client (must be picked up onsite).
  • States Approved: Minnesota and Wisconsin only.
