Machine Learning Engineer
At Uni Systems we are turning digital visions into reality and we are looking for a professional Machine Learning Engineer to join our UniQue Ispra team.
Responsibilities
- Collect business requirements and develop advanced data mining solutions or identify, assess and deploy relevant existing data mining, machine learning and business intelligence solutions.
- Analyze user needs and requirements.
- Identify and propose alternative implementations to support user requirements.
- Architect a final system solution.
- Contribute to the implementation of the identified architecture.
- Devise quality, security and architectural plans and assist in their implementation.
- Develop specifications and design of presentation interfaces with optimal usability/user experience and follow up with their implementation.
- Identify, collect, convert and update different data types/sets in several locations.
- Produce data models according to specific problem statements.
- Scripting and programming.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of the analytics architecture and its solution stack (including performance aspects, physical design, capacity dimensions).
- Write the different documentation associated with the tasks and liaise with other project teams as necessary to address cross-project interdependencies.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree + 7 years of relevant experience.
- At least 3 years of specific expertise in R or other statistical computing platforms (R, SAS, SPSS, STATA) and data visualization.
- At least 2 years of specific expertise in scripting languages Python, JavaScript.
- At least 2 years of specific expertise in relational or non-relational database architecture and SQL query development.
- Excellent knowledge of Data Analytics techniques and tools, including the underpinning mathematical concepts; a basic knowledge of multivariate data analysis and principal component analysis is also desirable.
- Strong background in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.
- Desirable expertise in one or more of the following: predictive modeling (forecasting, recommendation), prescriptive analytics (simulation), sentiment analysis, topic detection, social media data processing, trend/anomaly detection, recommendation systems.
- Proficient in business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., SAP, Business Objects, Tableau).
- Skilled in ETL processes and tools (e.g., Talend Open Studio).
- Solid command of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Hadoop, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server) and modern scalable data stores (e.g., Elasticsearch).
- Knowledge of web application architectures, including both frontend technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, APIs for sync/async communication) and backend frameworks (Python, .NET/C#, Node.js/Express.js, Spring Boot/Java).
- Comfortable working in Unix environments.
- Experience with continuous integration/delivery, automated testing, containerization, and orchestration platforms, applying DevOps practices (e.g., GitLab, OpenShift).
- Good communication skills in English, both orally and in written form.
