Software Development Engineer, Seller Fulfillment Services

Amazon Marketplace drives the Selling on Amazon business and develops solutions that enable millions of sellers worldwide to sell on Amazon’s marketplaces. The Merchant Shipping Intelligence team builds a technology platform to support sellers—both individuals and high-volume enterprises—by providing real‑time, end‑to‑end shipping integration and management. The systems we build operate at massive scale, must be highly available, and work securely across a diverse range of distributed devices. Our goal is to bring intelligence to the data at our disposal to make selling as easy as possible for sellers.

Key job responsibilities

• Interface with a diverse customer base to understand requirements, priorities, and processes.
• Propose and implement new projects or recommend system improvements.
• Help develop long‑term development and business technology strategies.
• Participate in the design, development, implementation, testing, and documentation of large‑scale, multi‑tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using Java, object‑oriented design, and distributed programming.
• Translate functional requirements into robust, scalable, supportable solutions that fit within the overall system architecture.
• Participate in the full development cycle, from design and implementation to testing, documentation, delivery, and maintenance.
• Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools.
• Mentor junior development engineers.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• 2+ years of contributing to new and current systems architecture and design, focusing on architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• 2+ years of building complex software systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of building production software.
