The EMEA Energy and Water team is looking for a Water Infrastructure Manager to support scaling and growth across our Data Centre network. This role focuses on the development, implementation and construction of new water infrastructure to enable large-scale water projects that our infrastructure requires to operate renewably and strategically.

This role is available in Madrid, Zaragoza, London, Frankfurt, and Dublin.

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver high standards for safety and security while providing scalable capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers. Key job responsibilities

  • You will manage design consultants, contractual drafting, develop and document requirements, budgets, and project schedules.
  • You will manage remote third-party delivery teams from design through construction, facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues, and remove barriers to project success.
  • You will multitask and re-prioritize, effectively leading deliveries based on changing business needs.
  • You will build and maintain the overall delivery program and project budget, submitting Capital Allocation Requests to Senior Leadership to secure finance for project delivery.
  • You will prepare investment need/business case papers to secure internal funding for water reinforcement projects to secure water supply and discharges.

A day in the life

  • Liaison with regulators and external stakeholders (water utilities, environmental agencies, health department, construction contractors, etc.).
  • You will leverage project management tools and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Regularly report to senior leadership on status of key project metrics versus commitments.
  • Ensure construction standards are followed and national construction regulations are complied with.
  • Create detailed planning packs to build scalable and future-proof water infrastructure.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities (data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities)
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities
  • Experience in commissioning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer License
  • Experience with building codes and regulations for your region
  • Experience taking design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
