What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll lead recruitment and talent development initiatives across the business, working closely with the HR Director and Head of Organisational Development. Your responsibilities will include:

Recruitment & Talent Pipelining

  • Lead direct recruitment across all business areas, focusing on proactive sourcing.
  • Use LinkedIn Recruiter to identify and engage top talent.
  • Build and maintain talent pools to support workforce planning.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle from advertising to onboarding.
  • Develop strong relationships with hiring managers and external partners.
  • Promote Metro’s employer brand through campaigns and candidate engagement.

Talent & Development Projects

  • Support the development of internal career pathways and frameworks.
  • Contribute to onboarding, succession planning, and engagement initiatives.
  • Continuously improve the recruitment and onboarding experience.
  • Help shape development initiatives that support learning, growth, and mobility.

Future Talent Programmes

  • Own and manage Work Experience, Apprenticeship, and Graduate schemes.
  • Coordinate outreach to schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Develop structured onboarding and development pathways for early careers talent.
  • Build relationships with external providers and internal stakeholders.

HR Administration & Coordination

  • Maintain accurate records in line with HR and data protection standards.
  • Support HR systems and process development in recruitment and onboarding.
  • Assist with recruitment and learning-related activities.


What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a confident, proactive individual with a passion for people and development. You’ll need:

  • Strong experience in direct recruitment, including LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Proven success managing full recruitment cycles and stakeholder relationships.
  • Interest or experience in learning and organisational development.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Initiative and creativity to improve candidate and employee experiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Tech-savvy with good knowledge of MS Office and candidate sourcing platforms.

Desirable:

  • Experience leading early careers programmes (e.g. apprenticeships, graduate schemes).
  • Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a fast-paced commercial environment.
