Senior / Principal Town Planner – Leeds (Hybrid Working)

Are you a skilled Town Planner with private sector experience and a passion for rural development? We’re working with a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy who are seeking a Senior or Principal Town Planner to join their growing Leeds office. With a diverse portfolio of rural diversification, residential, and mixed-use schemes, this is an excellent opportunity to take on more responsibility in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

The Role

You’ll manage a varied mix of planning projects — from rural estate diversification and agricultural conversions to residential developments and renewable energy schemes. You’ll provide strategic planning advice to landowners, developers, and private clients, coordinating applications and engaging with local authorities and key stakeholders.

At Principal level, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor junior planners, develop client relationships, and help shape the consultancy’s rural planning offer across the region. You’ll also work closely with colleagues across design, transport, and environmental teams to deliver integrated project solutions.

What You’ll Need:

• Experience in planning, ideally within consultancy or the private sector
• Good understanding of rural planning, land development or diversification projects
• Excellent communication, report writing and organisational skills
• Strong client management ability with commercial awareness
• Confidence managing multiple projects and deadlines
• RTPI chartership is desirable but not essential (support provided if working towards it)
