🚀 Civil Engineer

We’re currently working with a leading organisation in the utilities sector that is looking to strengthen its in-house engineering team with the addition of a skilled Civil Engineer . This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful capital projects while mentoring junior team members and helping shape future infrastructure delivery.

This is a long term contract position, outside ir35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review project scopes to ensure alignment with desired outcomes.
• Provide technical input and support across a range of capital projects.
• Produce and review key design and compliance documentation (e.g. design drawings, CDM documents, specifications).
• Conduct technical reviews of design outputs and documentation produced by others.
• Support and mentor graduate engineers and apprentices as part of their development.
• Collaborate with both internal stakeholders and external partners to secure project approvals.
• Carry out site visits, audits, and provide on-the-ground guidance to contractors.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• HNC, HND or degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Proven experience in a similar engineering role within infrastructure or utilities.
• Familiarity with current industry standards and regulations.
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and its practical application.
• Background in the design, construction or maintenance of infrastructure (both above and below ground).
• Ability to work independently while also contributing to wider team goals.
• Confident communicator able to liaise effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable (but not essential):

• Working towards or already attained professional Chartership (e.g. ICE, CIWEM).
• Prior experience within the utilities sector, particularly with potable water systems.
• Understanding of NEC contracts and CIWEM specifications.
