Location: Cheshire

Salary: Circa Β£70,000 + 10% annual bonus + benefits

This opportunity is ideal for a Chartered Mechanical Design Engineer seeking the next step into leadership, or for an experienced Design Manager looking to broaden their career with a pathway into international markets, including the US.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the design engineering team, aligning engineering capability with company strategy across manufacturing, sales, and distribution.
  • Deliver projects from concept through to completion, managing resources, feasibility, and compliance.
  • Drive innovation by developing new product designs, enhancements, and researching alternative technologies.
  • Oversee installations worldwide, ensuring compliance with CE, EU, and US standards.
  • Protect intellectual property through design registrations and patents.
  • Act as a technical leader, guiding and mentoring engineers while being hands-on where required.
  • Represent the business at customer sites, exhibitions, and industry events.


Experience Required

  • Chartered Engineer status (essential)
  • BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
  • Strong 3D CAD capability (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Background in machinery, containment, or industrial design.
  • Previous experience in a design leadership/management capacity.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a commercial mindset.
