We are partnering with a global leader in transfusion and infectious disease diagnostics seeking a Research and Development Manager . This position plays a central role in advancing next-generation serological and immunohematology products, ensuring scientific excellence, regulatory compliance, and innovation across global markets.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific & Technical Leadership

  • Lead product and process development, ensuring delivery to timelines and quality standards
  • Provide expertise across assay development, validation, licensure, and regulatory submissions
  • Chair technical reviews and scientific workshops, ensuring smooth transition from feasibility to validation and commercialisation


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Technical Support, QA, and Project Management teams to troubleshoot and drive continuous improvement
  • Contribute to regulatory documentation and performance evaluations for new and existing products
  • Support cross-departmental initiatives to optimise laboratory operations and compliance (GMP, GLP, GDP)


People & Project Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop junior scientists, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability
  • Manage complex custom projects and resource allocation within the department
  • Deputise for the Head of Product Development where required, driving scientific and operational priorities


Ideal Candidate

  • Degree in life sciences or related field with significant subject matter expertise
  • Proven experience in product development for diagnostics or IVDs, ideally within transfusion medicine
  • Strong background in serology or disease screening within a GMP environment
  • Skilled in data interpretation, documentation, and scientific reporting
  • Leadership experience with the ability to motivate teams and communicate effectively across functions
  • Knowledge of design control, regulatory frameworks, and quality systems
  • Fluent in English
