Connectivity/Wireless Solutions Architect – O-RAN | 5G SA | vRAN | xRAN Permanent - Greater Reading (likely to be in the office 3 days/month) Are you passionate about shaping the future of wireless networks? We’re looking for a Wireless Solutions Architect to design and deliver next-generation, cloud-native RAN systems that power scalable, flexible, and interoperable 5G infrastructure. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the architecture, design, and validation of advanced wireless solutions across multi-vendor, disaggregated, and virtualised environments — driving innovation in Open RAN and 5G Standalone deployments. What You’ll Do Architect and design 5G SA, Open RAN, and vRAN/xRAN solutions across diverse network scenarios. Define multi-vendor, cloud-native RAN architectures (RU/DU/CU). Lead integration, validation, and optimisation of end-to-end wireless solutions. Evaluate fronthaul, midhaul, and backhaul interfaces (O-RAN Split 7.2x). Collaborate with internal and external teams to align designs with business and technical goals . What You’ll Deliver Scalable, secure, and high-performing 5G/Open RAN deployments. Comprehensive architecture documentation and technical design packages. Optimised RF planning, coverage, and capacity models . Seamless multi-vendor interoperability across the RAN stack. What You Bring Deep expertise in O-RAN, 5G SA, and virtualised/open RAN technologies. Strong grasp of cloud-native networking, virtualisation, and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, CNFs). Experience with O-RAN SMO, RIC, and O1/O2/E2 interfaces . Solid knowledge of RF design, Massive MIMO, beamforming, and DSS . Hands-on skills with automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, Bash). Proven leadership in multi-vendor 5G deployments with top-tier vendors (e.g., Rakuten Symphony, Mavenir, Parallel Wireless, Nokia, Ericsson).
