Overview
School Crossing Patrol Cathedral Primary - Victoria Road South is a permanent, term-time role based in Chelmsford. The position supports schools in the morning and afternoon to ensure the safety of pedestrians crossing the road.
Responsibilities
- To have regard for the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility impaired people wishing to use the crossing point.
- Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
- Regularly assess the risks associated with operating at the crossing site in order to identify any problems. Report problems and defects to supervisor.
- Assist in the preparation of reports on accidents and failure to stop incidents and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
- Ensure that all uniform and equipment provided is maintained in good condition and replacements requested when needed.
- Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensuring that the traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.
Role Details
Location: Chelmsford
Working Style: Community-based worker
Pay: £13.00 per hour
Hours: Approximately 6 hours 15 minutes per week, during 39 academic weeks, with 35 minutes in the morning (08:25 – 09:00) and 40 minutes in the afternoon (15:00 – 15:40). Uniform, equipment, and training provided.
