Job Description

Job Summary:

The Safety Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of safety programs and policies to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. This role involves compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Lead accident investigations and prepare reports on incidents, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Provide training and resources to employees on safety practices and emergency response procedures.
  • Collaborate with management to develop safety goals and objectives and monitor progress towards achieving them.
  • Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes affecting workplace safety.
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation, including reports, records, and safety manuals both physical and digital.
  • Foster a safety-first culture by promoting employee engagement and communication regarding safety issues.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, contractors, and vendors regarding safety-related matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in safety management or a related field.
  • Certification in safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or similar) is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other safety-related laws and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Masonry-specific Hazards (e.g., silica dust exposure, working with heights, equipment operations, heavy material handling, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Proficient in using safety management software and tools.

  • Ability to conduct training sessions and presentations effectively.
