We have an exciting opportunity for a full‑time Consultant Psychiatrist to join Jade Ward, a 19‑bed acute inpatient ward at Langley Green Hospital in Crawley. This key medical and leadership role provides high‑quality, person‑centred care to adults with acute mental health difficulties.

Recruitment and Retention Payment

£45,000 structured over a three‑year period as follows:

  • ÂŁ15,000 payable upon successful recruitment
  • ÂŁ10,000 payable at 12 months’ service
  • ÂŁ10,000 payable at 24 months’ service
  • ÂŁ10,000 payable at 36 months’ service

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment to inpatients
  • Lead ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for detained patients under the Mental Health Act
  • Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to teaching and training
  • Engage in clinical governance, quality improvement and service development
  • Support research, development, medical education or special interests

Qualifications – Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months
  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement

Qualifications – Desirable

  • MRCPsych
  • Additional clinical qualifications
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
  • In‑good‑standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
  • Wide range of specialist and sub‑specialist experience relevant to the post within NHS or comparable service
  • Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
  • Participated in continuous professional development, research or service evaluation and clinical audit and quality improvement programmes
