About the Role

The Health and Safety Adviser works within the Health and Safety Team, supporting frontline services across the charity’s locations. The position is 30 hours per week, hybrid between home, services and the central support office in Portsmouth.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and develop H&S policies, providing advice to Service Management and promoting a positive safety culture.
• Support internal and external compliance audits, visit sites, review on‑site H&S practice and report findings to implement corrective actions.
• Compile reporting and data analysis to identify risks and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
• Investigate all accident and near‑miss incidents, provide lessons learnt and support risk assessments.
• Deliver existing health and safety training to staff, both in‑person and online.
• Collaborate with the H&S Committee, holding meetings to ensure effective communication and support.
• Oversee inspection and service schedules for service equipment, ensuring maintenance and safety.

Qualifications

• Related practical experience in health and safety.
• NEBOSH General Certificate.
• Member of IOSH.

• NEBOSH Diploma.
