🚀 Consultant Anaesthetist

Overview

The post holder will complement and develop existing services through the provision of specialist knowledge and expertise in Anaesthetics. The Royal Oldham Hospital (ROH) is increasing its paediatric surgical workload and we are looking to increase paediatric anaesthetic expertise to support this change. The department has strong teaching links and opportunities for Simulation, with a 10 PA contract primarily to cover theatre work, on-call duties, weekend trauma and pre-operative assessment clinic cover. Routine cover will be at the Oldham and Rochdale sites, with occasional work at other sites possible.

Main duties

The Anaesthesia and Surgical Division seeks to appoint Consultant Anaesthetists to join our growing team at The Royal Oldham Hospital. You will join a collaborative team of anaesthetists and intensivists providing anaesthetic services to ROH and Rochdale Infirmary.

Responsibilities

• Provide anaesthetic services across paediatric and obstetric cases as required by the service.
• Share in theatre anaesthesia cover, on-call duties and weekend trauma coverage.
• Contribute to departmental teaching, training and clinical governance initiatives.

Qualifications and experience

• Current specialist registration for anaesthesia or a reasonable expectation of achieving this within six months.
• Ability to deliver obstetric anaesthesia.
• Desirable: ophthalmic regional anaesthesia.
• FRCA or equivalent; CCT/CCT or higher specialist training in Anaesthesia or equivalent.
• Current Advanced Life Support certification.
• APLS essential; ATLS or ETC desirable.
• Participation in management training is desirable.
