Associate Director/Technical Director – Town Planning

RPS, a TetraTech company, is looking for an Associate Director/Technical Director – Town Planning to support the growth of its National Development and Infrastructure Planning team in Scotland.

This is a key role within the team that works collaboratively with the Environment Division on major projects across a wide range of sectors focused on energy, transport infrastructure and strategic housing and commercial projects. Working alongside multi‑disciplinary services, you will deliver major planning and DCO applications for renewables, alternative energy, airports, ports, residential, mixed‑use developments, data centres and major infrastructure projects.

About The Team

We are proud to be the planning and EIA leads for important energy and infrastructure projects across England, Scotland and Wales. Our projects include offshore wind farms, interconnectors, solar farms and battery storage, with over 20 current DCO projects spanning the UK.

What You Will Doing

• Build and mentor multi‑disciplinary teams and develop their professional experience.
• Generate new and repeat business and provide professional consultancy advice and services to customers and colleagues.
• Coordinate and assist submissions for frameworks, large tenders and support other offices as necessary.

Who We Are Looking For

• Qualified MRTPI or in another relevant discipline.
• Highly experienced and knowledgeable practitioner with experience in large energy and infrastructure projects, including Environmental Impact Assessment and Development Control Orders.
• Strong directorship qualities.
• Experience of appearing as an expert witness in public examinations and inquiries.
• Strong people management experience.
• Strategic thinker with strong negotiating techniques and a track record of achieving outcomes for customers, business, teams and self.
• Established market reputation with a demonstrable record of winning sustainable and commercially viable projects.
• Good financial and project management know‑how.
• Excellent influencing and communication techniques that enable you to build, maintain and consolidate strong working relationships with colleagues, customers and external bodies.
