Job Summary

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Training Fellow (Doctor) Child Health. 1 month to commence as soon as possible until 31 March 2026, and 1 month to commence on 22 December 2025 – 31 March 2026. Due to the short‑term nature of these posts, we will be unable to provide sponsorship; applicants must be able to undertake the post without a sponsorship requirement.

About Us

University Hospitals of North Midlands has two sites: Royal Stoke University Hospital, located in Stoke‑on‑Trent, and County Hospital in Stafford. We provide a full range of general acute hospital services and specialised paediatric care, including neonatal intensive care and paediatric intensive care, across a wide region.

Responsibilities

  • Gain paediatric/neonatal experience in a busy unit at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
  • Work in the Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU), wards, children’s outpatient clinics, and the Neonatal unit.
  • Participate in the Child Health Directorate’s multidisciplinary services including gastroenterology, respiratory, haematology‑oncology, diabetes, endocrinology, rheumatology, epilepsy, neurology, community paediatrics, and PICU.

Qualifications – Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration
  • APLS provider status
  • Safeguarding Level 3 training
  • Evidence of continuing professional updating
  • Highly motivated individual

Qualifications – Desirable

  • MRCPCH examination
  • Academic and extracurricular achievements
  • Experience at ST3 Paediatrics and above level
  • Ability to work on the middle‑grade rota in General Paediatrics and on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit

Skills and Personal Characteristics

  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team and cope under pressure.
  • Excellent communication with patients, senior medical staff, and other health professionals.
  • Proficiency in safe, effective procedural practice with evidence of competent clinical governance.
  • Awareness of changes in NHS practice and its impact on speciality work.

Compensation & Contract

Salary: ÂŁ65,048 a year
Contract: Fixed term – 6 months
Working pattern: Full‑time
