Role Overview
The Coastal Modelling Group within Maritime UK AG seeks a modeler to contribute to the development and growth of the group. The team provides numerical modelling services for internal and external clients, supporting the planning and design of coastal structures such as breakwaters, revetments, sea walls, intakes, and outfalls, and delivering environmental consenting work.
Responsibilities
- Collect and collate input data for modelling and analysis.
- Process and analyze data using strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Support senior staff in conducting coastal hydrodynamic, wave, sediment transport, dispersion and dilution, and CFD modelling.
- Provide technical judgment and advice to engineering and environmental teams.
- Contribute to the adoption and development of digital technologies to enhance processes and efficiency.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver assigned tasks within agreed budgets and timelines.
- Assist in the commercial and technical management of projects to ensure profitability and timely delivery.
Qualifications
- MEng/MSc or PhD with a final thesis in one of the following areas: Hydro‑informatics with a focus on coastal modelling techniques; Water quality modelling (modelling experience not essential, but strong knowledge of water quality and biochemical processes, and an interest in numerical modelling is important); Coastal morphology and sediment transport modelling (modelling experience not essential, but a good understanding of coastal processes and interest in numerical modelling is key); Application of CFD modelling in the maritime or water industry.
- Experience or interest in applying statistical analysis in coastal and river studies.
- Skills in Python and/or R programming.
- Familiarity with mainstream GIS software and programming languages (Python, R) is desirable.
- Strong technical ability in data analysis and modelling, with a desire to develop this further.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas as required.
