Overview

The Commercial Assurance and Framework Management (CAFM) team supports the Environment Agency’s programme delivery through commercial risk management and contract governance. This role collaborates with Integrated Delivery Management teams to maximise value for money across national delivery hubs.

Responsibilities

• Commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors, ensuring budget optimisation and value for money.
• Develop and manage pathfinder programmes embedding best practice and long‑term partnership arrangements.
• Champion commercial assurance and framework management across the country, building strong internal and external relationships.
• Support incident response duties when required, contributing to community protection and environmental safeguarding.

Qualifications

Essential

• A‑Level or equivalent, Level 3 qualifications.
• Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Stakeholder management experience.
• Strong data and document management skills.
• Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, take proportionate risks and deliver advantageous solutions.
• Administration skills – organisation, minute taking and report drafting.
• Willingness to pursue professional qualifications (e.g., NEC training, CIPS) and continuous development.
• Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.

Desirable

• Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• Progression towards recognised professional bodies (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS, RICS).
• Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
