🚀 Senior Advisor - Energy Sector - 32083

Overview

The Environment Agency is seeking a Senior Advisor for the Energy & COMAH team, a fixed‑term (up to 2 years) role focused on regulation and support of energy sectors to deliver Net Zero.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance and training.
• Develop strategy for the energy sectors and produce tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
• Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, trade associations and other industry players.
• Respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during incidents.
• Lead on defining standards for the energy sectors, delivering guidance and training on new duties.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge with experience regulating combustion plants, waste incineration or refineries.
• Experience in developing strategy and tools in an energy regulation context.
• Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
• Demonstrated teamwork and ability to work cooperatively to achieve common goals.
• Experience with environmental impact assessment and control measures for emissions to air.

Contract & Location

Fixed‑term up to 2 years. Based in Birmingham, UK, with some travel required.
