🚀 Senior Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery

Overview

The appointment will be a Trust Appointment designated as Clinical Fellow for a period of 6 months and subject to a successful appraisal will be renewable for a further 6 months.

The successful candidate will participate closely in all activities within the Directorate of Cardiothoracic surgery and be directly accountable to the consultant staff. The unit undertakes over 1100 cardiac operations and more than 700 thoracic operations per year. The unit specialises in minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgery, including robotic-assisted approaches.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the pre-, intra-, and post-operative management of patients under consultant supervision.
• Assist in theatre with consultant-supervised operative training appropriate to level of experience.
• Provide assistance to both consultant anaesthetists and surgeons in the post-operative management of patients.
• Participate in the pre- and post-operative management of patients on the wards under the direction of the appropriate Consultant Surgeon.
• Engage in the academic program, assist with presentations within the division, and contribute to training initiatives across the division. Time will be available to pursue individual research or training initiatives.
• Undertake audit and service evaluation projects as part of professional development.
• Participate in the same rota as other higher surgical trainees and engage with available training opportunities.
