JOB TITLE: R&D Scientist (Purification Development) LOCATION: Slough, Berkshire, United Kingdom SCHEDULE: Standard Office Hours DURATION: 12-Month Contract PAY: 18 - 23 GBP per hour Job Responsibilities: In this role, you will support technical and scientific activities within the Bioprocess Sciences team, focusing on the development and optimization of purification processes for biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Key responsibilities include: Designing, planning, and executing studies that contribute to technology or process/product development projects. Conducting laboratory experiments within defined scopes and timelines, analyzing data, and providing recommendations for next steps. Supporting the setup, configuration, and execution of high-throughput (HTP) workflows for process studies. Participating in the development and implementation of bioprocessing technologies and process improvements. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide purification support during technology implementation. Essential Duties and Job Functions: Assist in the development and execution of HTP studies according to established protocols and project timelines. Perform data collection and preliminary analysis to support process development decisions. Maintain accurate and timely experimental records in compliance with quality and documentation standards. Contribute to preparation of study plans, technical reports, and presentations under supervision of senior scientists. Support laboratory operations by maintaining equipment, consumables, and adherence to good laboratory practices. Identify potential risks to study execution and contribute to developing mitigation strategies. Actively participate in safety and environmental programs, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. Collaborate closely with analytical, automation, bioinformatics, and operations teams to drive study success and workflow integration. Knowledge & Skills: Strong technical understanding of bioprocessing, purification, and laboratory methods. Familiarity with high-throughput technologies, equipment setup, and process data capture. Good analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver work within defined timelines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Commitment to data integrity, documentation accuracy, and safety standards. Proficiency with relevant computer applications and scientific software tools. Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree (BSc/BEng) in Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering required. Master's degree (MSc/MEng/PhD/EngD) in Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering preferred. Experience working in a laboratory or bioprocess development environment is desirable.
