Overview
At Greywood, we’re committed to one mission: delivering care that changes lives – and transforming the PHP/IOP field itself – for the better.
We are building a new standard for intensive therapy – rooted in relational depth, psychodynamic insight, and emotional presence. Our founder has laid the foundation, and now we’re looking for a partner who can help bring that vision to life each day, in every interaction, and in every moment of care.
Responsibilities
We’re looking for an Executive Clinical Director who:
- Is mission-driven and passionate about higher-acuity care
- Began as a clinician and still values the craft of therapy
- Has a relational, emotions-focused, trauma-informed or psychodynamic orientation (rather than a predominantly cognitive or behavioral one)
- Transitioned into operations and leadership, discovering a love for systems and accountability
- Is process-driven and skilled at embedding systems into daily operations
- Will periodically still join or lead sessions as a way of staying grounded in the work and connected to the clinical team
- Is decisive, accountable, and comfortable holding others to high standards
- Balances compassion with firmness; respected by staff, but unafraid to say, “this is what needs to be done”
- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Can take a founder’s ideas – established as well as evolving ones – and turn them into daily reality, building systems that scale
This is not just a management role. It’s about creating a systems-centered culture where team members know what’s expected, feel supported, and are held accountable—with kindness and consistency.
What You'll Do
- Lead the daily clinical and operational functions of Greywood’s PHP/IOP programs
- Collaborate in the supervision and mentoring of therapists with a firm, relational approach
- Evaluate clinical and administrative staff including developing/refining performance metrics
- Support individualized treatment planning in alignment with program design
- Stay connected to the therapy itself by facilitating occasional groups
- Ensure coordination of admissions, utilization review, discharge planning, finance, and marketing to optimize workflows and support census growth
- Lead clinical quality assurance and compliance initiatives, including audits, documentation review, regulatory and payer requirement maintenance, and continuous improvement processes
- Embed systems into workflows, rejecting ad hoc chaos in favor of clarity and structure
- Collaborate with the founder to align clinical operations with organizational strategy, ensuring both quality outcomes and financial sustainability
- Represent Greywood as a clinical and operational leader in the community
What You Bring
- An Illinois license (LCSW, LCPC, PsyD, or PhD in Clinical Psychology)
- 7+ years post-licensure clinical experience, ideally including work in higher-acuity levels of care (IOP, PHP, residential, or hospital-based programs)
- At least 3–5 years of leadership/management experience within a behavioral health organization
- Demonstrated ability to oversee multidisciplinary teams (therapists, case managers, group facilitators, etc.)
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards specific to PHP/IOP settings (documentation, utilization review, payer requirements)
The ideal candidate will embody Greywood’s values —
Innovation: We are continuously advancing, improving, and challenging the status quo
Data: We are committed to rigorous frameworks and scientific methodologies in program design and assessment
Integrity: We uphold the highest standards of honesty, ethics, and transparency
Empathy: We create a culture of balance, warmth and belonging, where everyone is treated with kindness, compassion, and respect
Collaboration: We work together with our internal and external stakeholders to achieve the best possible results for our clients and their families
Excellence: We are passionate about our work and strive to be exemplary thought leaders in our field
