SUMMARY:Provides interventions to qualifying students with disabilities using methodologies of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Other duties may be assigned
Uses ABA methodologies
Demonstrates understanding of students' needs and is respectful towards those students and their needs
Demonstrates initiative with students
Communicates concerns and praises with classroom teacher and/or supervisor
Manages one student or a small group of students based on student goals
Collects student data and gives instructional feedback
Participates in physical activities which are a part of the students' basic program
Follows assigned schedule and exhibits promptness and consistency in providing ABA services to students
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises student(s) during one-on-one and classroom instruction
Maintains safe environment for students
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or General Educational Development(GED)
Experience in ABA methodologies are recommended, but not required
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students, and administrators.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detail from oral or written instructions.Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to reflect on results of behavior observations of various students/environments.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:Ability to work with emotionally, physically and/or mentally impaired students. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions.Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
