Overview
Molecular Diagnostics Technologist - at The Johns Hopkins University. The Pathology Department seeks a Molecular Diagnostics Technologist who, under the general supervision of the laboratory manager, performs a variety of both routine and complex clinical laboratory tests in accordance with established standards and procedures. These duties require a professional level of knowledge to properly execute and analyze results, especially where results are abnormal or atypical.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of both routine and complex clinical and/or research laboratory tests on different specimens, including but not limited to blood, bone marrow, and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded specimens, in accordance with established standards and procedures.
- Prepare and determine the suitability of reagents following defined formulas and procedures.
- Document and report test results. Complete required logs and supporting documents.
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, including routine repairs, and notify service personnel when more complex problems occur.
- Perform related general duties such as ordering supplies, general lab housekeeping, and maintaining safety records.
- Participate in the training of new employees, students, and physicians in laboratory methodology.
- Strictly comply with patient care and confidentiality policies, and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
- One year's experience in a comparable laboratory performing relevant techniques.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Molecular Biology (MB) ASCP certification.

Starting Salary Range: $48,000 - $84,100 Annually ($55,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
