Senior Recruitment Consultant - Civil Construction -

About the Role

The Fordy Group are working alongside an established heavy civil construction contractor and are seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead our estimating team. This leadership position oversees all bidding activities for grading, utilities, storm drainage, concrete, paving, and site development projects across the Southeast region.

The Chief Estimator will play a key role in ensuring bid accuracy, competitiveness, and risk management while maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the estimating team; establish accuracy and efficiency standards.
• Develop bid strategies and oversee bid/no-bid decisions.
• Prepare and review detailed cost estimates, takeoffs, and production assumptions.
• Identify and mitigate project risks including utilities, geotechnical issues, traffic control, and phasing.
• Finalize bid pricing, markups, and contingencies.
• Manage subcontractor and vendor coverage and oversee pre-bid clarifications.
• Conduct comprehensive job handoffs to operations teams post-award.
• Ensure full compliance with DOT, municipal, and private-sector bid requirements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of heavy civil estimating experience, including DOT and private work.
• In-depth knowledge of earthwork, utilities, concrete, and paving operations.
• Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid (or similar), Bluebeam , and Microsoft Excel .
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management , Civil Engineering , or a related field (preferred).
