Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – Orlando Health Cancer Institute
Orlando Health Cancer Institute is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer program that serves the adult oncology needs of the region. The Institute is accredited by the Commission on Cancer and has earned multiple specialty accreditations, including medical oncology and hematology/oncology, radiation oncology, and cellular therapy.
We are seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to provide leadership and clinical services at the designated practice site. The specialist will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other pharmacy staff to improve patient care and ensure that clinical pharmacy services are delivered with sufficient scope and coverage.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain clinical pharmacy services under the direction of the Pharmacy Clinical Manager.
- Plan, organize, execute, and monitor clinical pharmacy services to improve quality of patient care while utilizing resources effectively.
- Coordinate activities of the pharmacy department to meet patient population and community needs.
- Maintain documentation of clinical activities for pharmacy management and accreditation purposes.
- Conduct pharmacotherapy consultations (verbal and written) with physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Assist in nutritional support consultations with physicians, dietitians, and other providers.
- Engage in continuous professional development related to clinical practice.
- Provide clinical education and training to pharmacy staff and support core competency development.
- Develop policies, procedures, guidelines, and programs related to clinical pharmacy services as needed.
- Participate on multidisciplinary committees, such as the Pharmacotherapy Committee and subcommittees.
- Attend to pharmacy and medical resident training through multidisciplinary patient care rounds and formal educational programs.
- Precept students and interns from affiliated colleges of pharmacy as applicable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Pharmacy degree (Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy).
- Must be licensed as a pharmacist by the Florida Board of Pharmacy or obtain license within 4 months of hire.
- One of the following experience requirements must be met:     - Two (2) years completion of an ASHP‑accredited residency or fellowship in a specialty area relevant to practice needs.
- One (1) year completion of an ASHP‑accredited residency plus 1+ years of specialty practice experience.
- Five (5) years of clinical pharmacy experience aligned with institutional needs.
