Role Description
The Director of Digital Marketing drives branding, digital strategy, and campaign execution to ensure consistent and impactful messaging across all channels, including social media, websites, and print materials. The role oversees marketing initiatives, including advertising and SEO/SEM, to meet performance goals while incorporating inclusive storytelling, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles, and accessible narratives.
This role involves creating, managing, and analyzing campaigns; tracking data; optimizing strategies; and staying current with industry trends to enhance engagement and efficiency. Budget management is a key responsibility, including soliciting bids, tracking costs, reviewing vendor contracts, and recommending cost-saving measures. Collaboration with the VP of Marketing and Communications, internal teams, and external partners ensures alignment with organizational goals. Leadership duties include supervising a marketing specialist and a graphic designer, managing workloads, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality projects and deliverables. The director also contributes to strategic planning and continuous improvement of marketing efforts.
The Director of Digital Marketing will explore ways to maximize the potential of digital and print content to advance the Community Foundation’s mission of empowering donors and community partners to strengthen our region through philanthropy. In line with the Community Foundation’s brand framework, messaging and visual identity will focus on target audiences and the public good. This position, like all our roles, will be responsible for both incorporating specific job functions to advance diversity and equity as well as contributing to an inclusive run organization.
Essential Functions
Marketing and Communications
- Develop and oversee digital marketing initiatives and social strategy, as well as promote programs while driving cross-functional collaboration and facilitation.
- Maintain and strengthen our brand identity across all channels and initiatives; Ensure consistent brand messaging and visual identity across all channels, including social media, website, events, and marketing materials.
- Plan, execute, and manage multimedia marketing campaigns, including email marketing, social media, paid media, and SEO/SEM, ensuring they meet performance goals; responsible for outputs on website and social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Collaborate with the VP of Marketing and Communications to develop compelling digital content tailored to specific audiences and optimized for SEO, email, and social media platforms; collaborate with content experts to craft digital content that resonates with intended audiences; and incorporate inclusive and accessible narratives and visuals.
- Manage and contribute to website planning, implementation, and ongoing maintenance; Contribute to creating holistic digital customer journeys and experiences across all digital touch points; Serve and operate as marketing lead for CRM system and internal technical applications; develop and execute a cadence of improvement for data synchronization, CRM integrations, and operational efficiencies. This includes, but is not limited to, centralizing and transferring data through various processes and systems.
- Develop and execute strategies to improve organic search rankings and drive traffic through effective search engine marketing techniques.
- Create and oversee social media strategy aligned with department and organizational goals.
- Ensure effective delivery of information, engagement with audiences, and excellent online customer service.
- Work to incorporate DEI best practices into an inclusive and accessible narrative that helps engage and educate readers on racial and social justice.
- Help coordinate systems to implement Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion organization-wide priorities.
- Hire, supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate direct reports while managing the marketing and communications workload and schedule; identify opportunities for employee development; identify and delegate tasks to meet deadlines, and provide support and guidance on projects.
- Serve as team lead for assigned projects; review, approve, and be held responsible for all assigned projects and deliverables, including, but not limited to, website and social media content, advertising, branded collateral, project outcomes, budget, and special projects.
- Manage projects through the team’s project management system by creating projects, setting timelines, assigning responsibilities, providing clear task descriptions, tracking progress, and ensuring all project information and assets are centralized and current.
Analytics
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize digital and print campaigns, social posts, marketing initiatives, and paid ad performances using analytics tools; Provide insights and actionable recommendations to inform marketing and communication strategies.
- Stay up to date on the latest marketing trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices. Experiment with innovative strategies and tactics to drive engagement and efficiency and investigate and propose industry best practices to enhance business systems and optimize operations.
Budget
- Maintain budgetary responsibility for digital, advertising, and specific project needs, including equipment, supplies, and hospitality; track and solicit bids from vendors to obtain information regarding estimated costs, labor, and materials involved in completing a project.
- Monitor contracts for the team’s digital services and platforms and prepare budget recommendations based on projected renewal costs.
- Recommend cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements where possible.
Other Marketing and Communication Responsibilities
- Ensure all style and branding guidelines are maintained across the website, social media, and email communications.
- Maintain and enhance the company’s brand strength and consistency through all marketing activities and materials. Identify and establish strategic partnerships to enhance marketing efforts and expand the company’s reach.
- Utilize customer feedback and insights to refine marketing strategies and improve customer experience.
- Manage annual duties along with other long- and short-term projects and other tasks as assigned.
- Collaborate with marketing and communication team colleagues on departmental projects, including events.
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners (e.g., agencies, vendors, nonprofits) to ensure seamless campaign execution. Provide strategic recommendations to improve overall digital marketing efforts and achieve business objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including community programs, philanthropic engagement, and the president's office, to integrate digital strategies into broader organization efforts.
- Collaborate with the vice president of marketing and communications to align marketing efforts with organizational priorities.
- Serve on relevant cross-departmental committees as a subject matter expert, offering advice and support whenever needed.
Qualifications
- Experience in digital strategy and marketing
- Proficiency in data, social, and web analytics
- Strong communication and leadership skills

- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field
