Position Overview
Job Title : Technical Theater Teacher/Director/Stage Manager
Location : North Central High School, Washington Township Schools, Indianapolis, IN 46240
Position Type : Full‑time, Contract (185‑day calendar)
Start Date : Immediately
Salary : $51,000 (BS) or $52,000 (MS) plus $7,000 Stage Director stipend. Benefits effective the first of the month following hire.
Responsibilities & Requirements
- Prepare and maintain the master calendar of events for performance spaces, coordinating with the Performing Arts Chair and administrative assistant.
- Demonstrate expertise in stage management, lighting, scenery, sound, and all technical aspects of live theater; manage house and stage crews for school and community events.
- Develop and implement producing plans that address safety for personnel and equipment, including regular inspections (rigging, fire).
- Serve as lead technical director for all NCHS productions and performances, supervising repairs, maintenance, and contractors.
- Instruct students in technical theater (lighting design, set construction, sound design) at both beginning and advanced levels; sponsor the extracurricular stage‑crew club.
- Complete all required paperwork (inventory, repair records, report cards, attendance, purchase orders).
- Maintain clear, timely communication with parents, colleagues, and the Theatre Arts Director regarding schedules, budgets, invoices, and venue organization.
- Operate within the allocated budget, manage performance spaces (scene shop, storage, dressing rooms, props), and provide sets, lights, and sound for all productions.
- Accept additional duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
- A valid teacher's license is preferred but not required; candidates must hold degrees required for licensure in Indiana.

- Curricular Day: Blend of skill & knowledge development, facility maintenance, and event preparation.
- Non‑class responsibilities include maintenance, scheduling, organization, and repair/upkeep.
