What Will You Be Doing?

The Senior Manager, Operations Planning & Design is responsible for driving improved operational performance by aligning our operational capabilities and execution with our commercial and scheduling objectives. The Senior Manager will leverage a range of enterprise-wide data source to analyze historical and future operations, and facilitate collaboration and coordination between Commercial and Operations stakeholders.

This position reports to Director, Operations Planning & Design.

Essential Functions

  • Review historical and future schedules and operational plans to proactively identify bottlenecks and risks; work across the enterprise to minimize identified problem areas.
  • Leverage data to communicate a holistic understanding of our operational performance and the underlying root causes of outcomes.
  • Identify and drive actionable opportunities that improve our operational performance, including but not limited to: optimizing resource plans, implementing new processes, procedures and capabilities, and optimizing schedules.
  • Partner with key functional leaders (including network planning, scheduling, operations, finance and PMO) to develop, prioritize and implement initiatives.
  • Prepare briefings for senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Lead a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative, results-driven culture and taking a significant role in their professional development.
  • Develop expert status on operational topics and trends across the business and industry.
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc requests as directed by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Economics or related field.
  • Advanced quantitative degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working in network planning, data analytics, operations management, finance, management consulting or related fields and functions.
  • 3+ years of direct people leadership experience
  • Previous professional experience with SQL, R, Python, or other coding languages and statistical analysis.
  • Prior experience in airline industry operations, network planning or revenue management, and the associated tools and software is preferred.
  • Prior experience leading teams is preferred.

  • Exemplary written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to present complex data in a clear, concise manner to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Strong work ethic; delivers results in ambiguous, time-pressured situations with the ability to tackle complex financial challenges, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to independently prioritize analyses for self and teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to structure data-driven analytical approaches using a range of quantitative techniques to solve business problems in an efficient, timely manner.
  • Sound judgment and ability to maintain composure under pressure.

Technical skills:

  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills; experience with Databricks and/or Snowflake required, experience with Tableau or Power BI.
  • Understanding of operations research, statistical, product management, and/or programming solutions and techniques.
