General Purpose

The Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) is responsible for the day-to-day activities in the rehabilitation department of assigned facilities. This includes delivering direct and indirect services to in-patients and out-patients, supervising therapy personnel, interviewing and recommending new hires, and providing training for all therapy staff. The DOR has the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary to provide both clinical and operational oversight of rehabilitative services.

Essential Duties

  • Supervise and guide all therapy personnel in the facility, including licensed therapists, assistants, aides, and students.
  • Create daily staff schedules to meet the facility's needs.
  • Provide direct care and collaborate with management to determine appropriate caseload.
  • Ensure residents' rehabilitation needs are met and review therapy services periodically.
  • Adhere to regulatory standards in the delivery of rehabilitation services.
  • Ensure clinical documentation is complete, timely, and accurately reflects provided services.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of departmental documentation.
  • Coordinate denials management activities to ensure timely claims and appeals submission.
  • Meet and exceed established productivity standards.
  • Monitor and adjust treatment programs based on outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures of the facility and company.
  • Approve timecards and verify work hours for department personnel.
  • Provide evaluation input on department employees and build relationships with local hospitals and referral sites.
  • Participate in facility and company meetings as agreed with leadership.
  • In-service staff regarding safe work practices to minimize work-related injuries.
  • Organize orientation for new department personnel, ensuring timely completion of all paperwork.
  • Complete billing documentation accurately and on time, adhering to company standards.
  • Recommend improvements to operations and services.
  • Travel as necessary to assigned destinations promptly.
  • Maintain patient and company information confidentiality.
  • Identify areas for personal development, training, and continuing education.
  • Promote a positive attitude toward staff and the community regarding the company's mission and goals.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must be licensed as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist in the state.
