Associate Director, Safety Training and Compliance
Description: The Associate Director of Safety Training, Compliance, and Program Development is tasked with the creation, maintenance, updating, filing, and implementation of all essential training programs, as well as assisting with the development of the overall Health and Safety program. This position reports to the Director of Health and Safety, or another management personnel designated by the President. Location: Houston, TX. Work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm or 9:00am–6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend hours may be required. Travel up to 50%.
Responsibilities
- Regular attendance as per company policy and supervisory assignment.
- Development and implementation of safety training programs, including curricula, syllabi, evaluation criteria, training satisfaction surveys, and other training initiatives.
- Develop and implement the Qualified Electrical Worker Program for the organization.
- Conduct regular audits of training records to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage the training calendar and ensure timely completion of required training.
- Provide comprehensive support for safety training initiatives, including coordination of sessions, management of training materials, and tracking of completion.
- Proactively communicate with field personnel to address training-related issues.
- Collaborate with operations teams to identify improvements in safety training processes and procedures.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and approving safety processes, including process mapping and SOPs.
- Design and coordinate the safety assurance program.
- Maintain knowledge of industry standards, trends, and best practices in safety training.
- Execute additional responsibilities as delegated by the Director of Health and Safety.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in training and field compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of Electrical Safety Standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E).
- Strong understanding of training and compliance processes and procedures.
- Strong ability to develop and write Standard Operating Procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other software applications.
- Proficiency in training databases such as Avetta, ISNetworld, Heatspring, etc.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate within project teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of project management principles is a plus.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
- Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Physical Demands
- Stationary position: may remain stationary for up to 90% of the time; sitting up to 8 hours per day.
- Move/Traverse: infrequently bend, stand, stoop, and/or walk.
- Carry weight: infrequently lift objects up to 10 pounds.
- Hearing and speech: able to communicate effectively with employees and others.
- Sight: able to read computer screens, documents, and objects at various distances.
- Climb: occasionally ascend/descend stairs.
- Travel: up to 50% as needed.
Work Environment
- Regular professional office environment; noise ranges from low to moderate.
- On construction sites, noise ranges from moderate to high.
