Activities Director
Do you have a passion for developing and running activity programs for seniors? Come put your experience and enthusiasm to work with us. As Activities Director, you will have a direct impact on the lives of individuals in the Adult Day Health program.
Develop, coordinate, and implement therapeutic, social, recreational, and educational activity programs for the Adult Day Health ("ADH") individuals served
Ensure that activity programs meet the needs of each person according to their individualized plan of care
Document each individual’s participation, pertinent changes, and progress
Participate in the review of each individual’s care plan
Provide ongoing assessment of the individual’s physical and psychological status
Direct and supervise assigned ADH staff members
Plan and schedule activities and social events for the ADH individuals
Develop monthly calendars of activities and events
Coordinate recreational activities and outings
Develop and implement educational programs for ADH individuals and staff members
Evaluate appropriateness and effectiveness of activities for individuals and groups
Supervise assigned staff, including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, training, and ongoing support; make recommendations for decisions related to employment; resolve employee problems within position responsibilities
Qualifications
Associate Degree, or higher, in Recreation, Activity Therapy, or a related social or behavioral science
NCCAP (National Certification Council for Activities Professionals) or NCTRC (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification) required CPR and First Aid, as required by state regulations
All state-required training and certification completed in mandated timeframes
3 years of experience in the coordination of an activities program within a social or recreational setting, with 1 or more years providing activity programs and services to a population with special needs, preferably the elderly
Supervisory experience preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent planning and organizational skills
