Overview
AVP, Consumer Bank Product Owner โ Digital API. Synchrony is building a world-class Digital Bank with smart savings products and capabilities that help consumers prepare for their futures. Our Consumer Bank agile teams bring products to life through all stages and touchpoints of the customer lifecycle. This role will be responsible for leading the API implementation of new features and enhancements to our consumer bank. We are seeking an agile-trained product owner with experience working with API teams and strong technical acumen.
Essential Responsibilities
- Identify business needs and translate to business requirements and stories for our API teams, known as the Business Services Layer (BSL)
- Influence decisions by providing technical consultation and direction to stakeholders alongside Technical Product Owners
- Work closely with Technical Product Owners to ensure technical implementation meets business requirements and rules
- Deep dive into complex technical systems
- Ensure strong communication and coordination with front-end developers and other API consumers
- Recommend new technology trends and innovative products/features to the teams
- Oversee the wing-to-wing product development lifecycle, including build, test, launch, and adoption
- Lead backlog planning and grooming with the Agile Development Team and Scrum Master, and support Release planning
- Coordinate and lead user acceptance testing (UAT) for releases
- Collaborate with UX partners to create screen prototypes/wireframes, gather feedback, and optimize performance
- Partner with Marketing, IT, Compliance, Credit/Risk and Operations to identify and prioritize future features and manage the product backlog
- Lead run-the-engine functions such as triaging and managing defects, employee education, user inquiries, and SLA issues
- Partner with the Digital Analytics team to monitor usage patterns and utilize tools such as Omniture, GA, and Splunk
- Keep all product and API documentation up to date
- Work with Consumer Bank Digital Product Owners to create a unified digital customer experience
- Participate in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) as part of a Solution Train
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or, in lieu of a degree, a high school equivalent and 8+ years of experience as a Product Owner within a consumer banking organization
- 4+ years of digital product owner experience
- 2+ years of API and/or services management

Salary
The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 - 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Actual compensation offered within the posted range will be based on experience, skill level, or knowledge. Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility and Compliance
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of onboarding
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before posting on other roles; Level 8+ must have at least 18 monthsโ time in position before posting; all internal employees must meet performance expectations and have manager/HR approvals to post
