Our Mission
MHS is devoted to advancing the quality of care we provide to our patients. It utilizes an Anesthesia Care Team model to unite CAAs with Staff Anesthesiologists, SAAs, Residents, CRNAs and SRNAs. CAAs exemplify excellence in all facets of anesthesia practice.
Hours
Monday-Friday, 80 hours biweekly, shift variability upon request, minimal in‑house weekend call requirement.
Education Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school with a bachelor's degree that includes prerequisite pre‑medical undergraduate science background.
- Graduate of a medical school‑based anesthesiologist’s assistant education program accredited by CAAHEP.
- Current Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) certification and recertification by NCCAA.
- Current CAA licensure from the Ohio State Medical Board.
- Current ACLS & BLS certifications.
- Demonstrates current competency in the clinical responsibilities specified below.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform pre‑anesthetic assessment, discuss anesthetic management, and administer anesthesia under staff anesthesiologist direction.
- Prepare supplies, equipment, and monitors before anesthesia.
- Develop and administer anesthetic plan including induction, maintenance, and emergence.
- Administer various types of anesthesia (inhalation, intravenous, spinal, epidural, peripheral nerve blocks) under medical direction.
- Recognize physiological changes during surgery and take appropriate action.
- Transfer patient to appropriate postoperative area and assist in postoperative care.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and research initiatives within MHS.
Physical Requirements
- Full range of motion; manual and finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination.
- Stand and walk for extended periods; lift and transport patients.
- Corrected hearing and vision within normal range.
- Exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
- Ability to work under extreme pressure.
