About the Opportunity:
Our client, a leader in Autonomous Vehicle Technology, is looking for a skilled Network Security Engineer to join their team for a 6+ months engagement. This project involves helping ensure the security of our customers, staff, systems, communications, and data, and supporting the implementation, maintenance and upkeep of network security systems. This is a high-impact role that requires a self‑motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
- Supporting the implementation, maintenance and upkeep of network security systems, including firewalls, URL filtering, IDS/IPS, network access control, remote access VPN, and similar systems.
- Contributing to architecture, design, and implementation work as we mature the network security programs, processes, and practices.
- Engineering & administration for Next Generation Firewall/UTM devices.
- Engineering & administration for AWS Network Security.
- Engineering & administration for Network Access Control (802.1X).
- Engineering & administration for Remote Access VPN.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of Network Security Engineer experience supporting production environments.
- Deep expertise in AWS network security services (3+ years hands‑on experience), practical knowledge of PKI, cryptography, and certificates, strong understanding of OSI model (all layers), strong understanding of Layer‑7 protection techniques as relates to network security, and strong understanding of AWS Network Firewall, Security Groups, and NACLs, AWS Transit Gateway and VPC architectures. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
- Experience with 3+ years of IT systems/application engineering/administration experience.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with members of the Information Security, IT, Product, and Operations teams. Experience with change management and a focus on customer experience as a key component of measuring success is a must.
