🚀 Director, Technical Standards – RISC-V Hardware

Overview

Director, Technical Standards – RISC-V Hardware at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. The role focuses on working with internal and external partners to improve and evolve industry technical standards while representing Qualcomm in standardization forums. The candidate will understand semiconductor industry landscapes, identify existing and emerging standards for Qualcomm to focus on, collaborate with external partners to develop and promote standards, formulate and execute Qualcomm’s strategy for semiconductor standards, and work with attorneys to file patents protecting novel IP.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to advance industry technical standards
• Represent Qualcomm as a delegate in standardization forums
• Identify and prioritize existing and emerging standards for Qualcomm to pursue
• Develop and promote standards through external partnerships
• Formulate, maintain, and execute Qualcomm’s strategy for semiconductor standards
• Coordinate with attorneys to file patents protecting novel IP aspects of inventions

Minimum Qualifications

• Master\'s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years of ASIC design, verification, or related work experience
• 7+ years of experience with standards bodies
• Strong networking and influencing skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of semiconductor technologies
• Understanding of international semiconductor landscapes and strategic incentives of major players
• Semiconductor development experience across architecture, design, verification, validation, manufacturing, silicon qualification, etc.
• Familiarity with Electronic Design Automation (EDA)
• Understanding of open-source licensing models and ecosystems
• Familiarity with Qualcomm semiconductor products and technologies
• Experience or network in research and academia
• Strong documentation, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• 2+ years working with operating budgets and/or project financials
• 3+ years collaborating with senior leadership
• 4+ years in a technical leadership role
• 7+ years of experience with semiconductor standards organizations and forums (e.g., RISC-V, JEDEC, UEFI, Accellera, Si2, SEMI, OCP, ISO, IEC, IEEE, INCITS, GSA, SIA, IMEC, SRC)
• 8+ years in system design, modeling, or testing

Education Requirements

• Required: Master\'s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• Preferred: Doctorate in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering

Additional Information

• Global travel for standards organization forums is expected
• Pay Range: $212,800.00 - $352,400.00
