POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Chief operating Officer, the Sr Manager Quality / Chief Inspector is authorized by the Chief Operating Officer to develop, modify, as well as monitor, the policies, procedures, instructions, and information for all the Airworthiness processes, including the identification and management of the interactions between processes required to assure that Company aircraft, engines and appliances are acquired and maintained in an airworthy condition in accordance with the Federal Aviation Regulations. This includes the authority to make key decisions/determinations, to include safety-risk-acceptance decisions relating to Quality Control. The Sr Manager Quality/Chief Inspector also possesses the authority for the financial and human resources required as they relate to safety management personnel not limited to ensuring safety management promotion and training be provided to all personnel.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- A certified Airframe & Powerplant mechanic with min. 3 years’ experience working as a mechanic. High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma mandatory. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aviation or Quality Discipline preferred.
- Have at least 3 years of maintenance experience on different types of large airplanes with 10 or more passenger seats with an air carrier or certificated repair station, 1 year of which must have been as maintenance inspector.
- Have at least 1 year of experience in a supervisory capacity maintaining the same category and class of aircraft as the Company operates.
- Experience and training in Safety Management Systems and the documentation of System Analysis, Hazard Identification, Risk Analysis and Risk Assessment.
- Widely regarded as a strong and effective leader of people, with a Servant Leadership approach and an ability to engage and motivate a workforce.
- Ideally, previous experience as Quality Manager.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of:
- Applicable Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
- FAA Operating Certificate issues
- Operations Specifications
- Company operations and procedures or be able to rapidly learn the material
- Inventory policies and procedures or be able to rapidly learn the material
- Company manuals and Company training programs or be able to review materials and come up to speed quickly.
- Ideally, has demonstrated an ability to work across multiple corporate environments and to adapt accordingly.
- Experience working within carrier contexts bearing some similarities to COMPANY NAME – dynamic environment, hands‑on, resource‑limited. Ideally, but not necessarily, has had direct experience with the Boeing 767 and Boeing 757 aircraft type.
- Has ideally led effectively within lean and resource‑limited work environments.
- Experience keeping costs to an absolute minimum, identifying, and pursuing creative means of cost containment, and working with people and providers inside and outside the company.
- A track record of consistent performance improvement and delivery, minimizing the cost of operation, while delivering high levels of customer service.
- A demonstrated change agent who can overcome inertia and the inherent aversion to change among long‑standing employees. Comfortable with new, different, and creative approaches to operations, and innovative in this regard.
- Prior experience with the systems, processes and tools deployed in larger companies but ideally with experience applying them in smaller company contexts.
- Experience deploying information and related technology to contain drive maintenance efficiency. Familiarity with accessing online aircraft manuals.
- Prior supervisory experience including full cycle of responsibilities including hiring, training, staff development, progressive discipline and terminations.
- An unblemished record as related to his or her ethical integrity and that of the organizations he or she has served.
- Has the potential to grow into broader and more senior roles within the organization.
- Proven ability to make quick, confident decisions relating to the airworthiness of aircraft to ensure a safe operation.
- Rigorous, structured, disciplined, fact‑based, and analytical in approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both internally and externally. Able to communicate effectively with other departments with a clear understanding of his/her subject matter.
- Very strong and well‑developed people leadership and people development skills, with an ability to provide clear work direction and to inspire, motivate, and lead teams while also holding them accountable for results.
