Job Overview

Supervisor (Manufacturing) - 2nd shift at RR Donnelley (RRD). Join our production team in Dallas, TX. Shift: 2nd shift typically Tuesdayโ€“Friday, 5:00pmโ€“4:00am. If volume is high, Monday may be required; once a month, Sunday work may be needed.

Job Summary

Responsible for the motivation, coaching, and supervision of manufacturing associates. Execute production efficiency standards, company policies, guidelines, and production documentation that support daily operations.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and achieving department goals, metrics, and performance. Partner with manager to complete the Performance Management Process, establish annual goals, and formally evaluate performance. Provide salary increase input to leaders for direct reports. Use recognition tools to reward outstanding associates. Build relationships with associates and internal/external customers. Develop team leaders to assist with shift needs and ensure effective delegation. Motivate associates toward meeting/exceeding production goals and maintaining engagement. Review shift production performance and recommend improvements, including reducing shortages. Coordinate labor resources daily (company associates and temporary labor) to meet production needs. Note: 40% time allocation.
  • Manage associate relations issues in compliance with company policies; administer policies to ensure retention and positive relations. Conduct interviews, make hiring decisions for manufacturing personnel. Train associates on proper work techniques and participate in diversity programs. Promote compliance initiatives and support a diverse workforce. Note: 30% time allocation.
  • Maintain safety as a primary focus; conduct accident and incident investigations. Ensure equipment has proper safety devices and is safe to operate. Note: 20% time allocation.
  • Reconcile hours for payroll and track attendance. Implement change management and process improvements. Perform other duties as assigned by senior plant leadership. Note: 10% time allocation.

Qualifications

Education
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)

Experience
- Minimum 2โ€“4 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment (Preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership skills

- Analytical/problem-solving approach to production/staffing forecasting, data analysis, and goal setting

  • Optimize production schedule; evaluate job sequencing and workload balancing based on material and shipping deadlines
  • Coordinate work movements based on material arrival, production demand, and shipping needs
  • Coordinate with staffing agency on the number of associates required

  • Position requires flexibility to work other shift schedules as required for coverage

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • Weight lifting up to 17 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 40 lbs, standing, walking, twisting, reaching, and gripping for the shift; may include squat/kneel
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne dust, paper particles, and industrial lift trucks; hearing protection when noise levels exceed OSHA standards

Additional Information

The salary range for this role at the specified RRD location is $67,800โ€“$105,800 annually. Starting pay decisions are based on factors including education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and business needs. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid time off, 401(k) with company match, life insurance, disability insurance, and other coverages, plus parental leave, adoption assistance, tuition assistance, and discounts.
