POSITION SUMMARY The Asphalt Production Superintendent will be responsible for coordinating production activities at designated asphalt plant(s). This position involves working with all plant personnel to ensure safety, production efficiency, and proper housekeeping, aligned with business and profit goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Implement and enforce all safety rules, regulations, and procedures as set forth by federal, state, local agencies, and company policies.
  2. Plan and staff operations for three Hot Mix Asphalt production facilities in the Denver Metro area.
  3. Collaborate with the Plant Maintenance Supervisor to ensure scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is completed on all equipment.
  4. Maintain standards for housekeeping and appearance.
  5. Monitor daily plant operations to meet production and quality control standards; take corrective actions as needed.
  6. Track and report safety and production KPIs.
  7. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations through regular inspections.
  8. Oversee procurement of supplies and equipment, recommending vendors to optimize costs.
  9. Coordinate staffing and ensure safe plant operation, aligning with labor laws and affirmative action policies. Develop and lead self-directed work teams and conduct annual performance reviews.
  10. Assist in developing the annual HR business plan and promote employee development through training and cross-training initiatives.

MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory or related experience in asphalt production and aggregate processing, with knowledge of mineral processing equipment preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Strong organizational, technical, and leadership abilities.
  • In-depth understanding of plant mechanical and computer systems.
  • Willingness to grow within the company.
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and insurance compliance (MVR).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel between sites.
  • Work extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and kneel in various weather conditions and terrains.
  • Climb stairs and ladders up to 100 feet.
  • Climb on equipment for supervision.
  • Wear PPE including hard hats, steel-toed boots, safety eyewear, and hearing protection.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work in diverse environments, including office settings and outdoor conditions in various weather.
