Engineering Manager, Embedded Systems (manufacturing exp req)

Our client, an industrial manufacturer, is looking for an Embedded Software & Systems Integration Engineering Manager to join their engineering team near Racine, WI. They have evolved over the last few years from being just a hardware company to becoming a more software‑driven manufacturer. Because they’ve prioritized automation over the last two years, they have doubled their results. Base salary: $145,000‑$155,000 per year, with bonus potential (OTE: $150‑165k). Organised as full‑time, typical hours Monday‑Friday 8 am‑5 pm (flexible). Sponsorship is not available. Start date: ASAP. Relocation assistance available. Onsite daily work required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of embedded software, vision systems, and related hardware.
  • Oversee the Programming Team (5) and the delivery of their embedded systems projects.
  • Establish clear performance goals, mentor the engineering team, and provide feedback.
  • Manage project timelines, scope, resource planning, and change management.
  • Partner with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure seamless system performance.
  • Create and implement best practices for embedded software development.
  • Develop and enforce a structured testing and release strategy.
  • Define test cases, performance benchmarks, and failure criteria for validation processes.
  • Implement a revision control system for software releases to support field reliability.
  • Recommend technologies that enhance product safety and automation.
  • Encourage a culture of responsibility, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Strong background within systems engineering/systems integration.
  • Project leadership experience within manufacturing.
  • Experience integrating software and hardware projects.
  • Hands‑on coding (any language) experience.
  • Able to work onsite daily.
