Function/Duties of Position

The Research Engineer 3 (RE3) will lead design and execution of high-throughput single-cell combinatorial indexing assays to detect rare cancer cell populations. Responsibilities include assay/system architecture, reagent and indexing schema design, automation, instrumentation, process control, data quality engineering, and documentation/compliance. Collaboration with molecular biologists, computational scientists, and clinical collaborators is essential to meet milestones on time in a fast‑paced environment. Some weekend work is required.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Computational Biology or related field OR Master’s Degree in Computational Biology or related field AND 6 years of relevant experience (equivalent combination of bachelor’s and training may be considered)
  • Experience with at least 3 of the following fields: electrical/optical setup installation, machining, data processing, biochemistry, molecular biology, nanoparticles and material characterization
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
  • Must possess energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships
